4th Anniversary & General Assembly
From Jan. 16 meeting minutes, it was decided that the Anniversary and General Assembly be held out-of-town this year on November 20 and 21 (Saturday and Sunday). As suggested by Mr. Tenebro, the venue of Anniversary celebration will be at Camp Bernardino Resort de Lavigan Beach Resort in Gov. Generoso Davao Del Norte. There were questions as to the protocol for Covid-19 safety in the area as well as other details of overnight stay at the resort. Mr. Tampus then called the resort to inquire for the said details. The resort’s representative responded that there is no quarantine period required, that the requirements were DavNor QR code and travel manifest. Once the booking has been paid, they will issue the travel manifest. The members would need to sign up for Davao del Norte QR code. Resort have 8 and 6 persons cottages and rooms for family or couple. Other members opted to pitch a tent in the resort area (rate to be inquired). Potluck style would be done for the celebration. ID and member details are collected during the meeting for the registration of DavNor QR code. Mr. Tampus stated that there will be a group text message to ask all members of the club for confirmation to join the Bug Run.
Club’s Intent to Use “VWCP Davao City” Name
Mr. Tampus discussed the current state of the club’s inquiry to VWCP main’s Vice President, Mr. Carlito Basco, about the use of the name “VWCP Davao City”. Mr. Tampus stated that Mr. Basco’s response on the matter is that the club needs to write a formal letter so the club may use the official name. Mr. Tampus further discussed that if the club would use the new name, then it would mean to retire the current name, Davao Volkswagen Club, Inc. “Dabawagen”, and asked the members present in the meeting if it should be the direction the club will take. Dr. Del Fierro then stated that the club wouldn’t need to retire the current name, but still be an official VWCP Chapter in Davao City.
Creation of Growth and Development Committee
Mr. Tampus opened a discussion regarding the drive to recruit new members of the club by having within-city bug runs, as previously discussed that many would like to join the club but are hesitant because the bug runs are usually far and wanted to have shorter bug runs instead. Mr. Doctolero shared an activity on his membership from Lancer club, which they have “Tambay Night” just to maintain the presence in the area. Dr. Del Fierro pushed the committee would be formed at that moment, hence proposed for the creation of the Growth and Development Committee. The motion was seconded by Mr. Tenebro. There were no objections thus the Growth and Development Committee has been officially created. Dr. Del Fierro then nominated Mr. Irvin Doctolero as the chairman of the Growth and Development Committee. The nomination was seconded by Mr. Cañas. There were no other nominations or objections, hence Mr. Doctolero was elected as the chairman of Growth and Development Committee. Mr. Estioko then suggested for various activities, other than short bug runs, like timed race with speed limit. Mr. Tampus then added that since the club is now an official chapter of VWCP in Davao City, the short city bug runs, activities, or informal meetings will be recorded (using the existing forms) for the attending members to earn badge points.
Club Uniforms
As approved in the previous meetings, there will be two uniforms, one for Bug Runs which will be a gray no collar long sleeves cotton; and one for formal events and meetings, which will be black polo shirt, with embroidery. The members pushed for the long sleeves to be available for use on the upcoming bug run on Feb. 20-21. Mr. Catague suggested that we can do a heat press for the logo on the long sleeve shirts to be done by Roots Irie. Mr. Tampus stated he will canvass for prices of the shirts. Mr. Tenebro suggested the brand Judge, which are available on the malls.
